Our Story

Born from a Mother’s Story — Built for Every Child’s Future

Mother Child Education and Health Foundation was founded in 2016 after a devastating incident in Cameroon where a pregnant woman carrying twins was denied medical care due to inability to pay hospital fees, and tragically lost her life — and the lives of her twins — outside a hospital facility.

That moment revealed a deeper issue: systemic barriers to maternal and child support that leave entire families without recourse. In response, MCEHF was created to advocate for maternal health, early childhood care, and community support structures.

Maternal vulnerability and limited access to healthcare contribute to a cycle of poverty and instability. MCEHF exists to break that cycle — one family, one community at a time.

In honoring a mother who deserved better, we chose to build something lasting — a foundation where no mother or child faces those barriers alone.

Help Us Build a Safe Early Childhood Learning Center in Cameroon

To honor a mother who deserved better

Recognizing the urgent need for safe, affordable, and high-quality early childhood education, MCEHF is taking concrete steps to construct and operationalize a dedicated learning center serving children ages 1–10 in underserved communities in Cameroon.

While we serve families locally in Philadelphia, we are extending our impact to underserved communities in Cameroon where maternal and child support services and systems are severely limited.

The Problem

In many rural areas of Cameroon, children lack access to the resources they need to thrive:

  • Early childhood learning materials
  • Basic school supplies
  • Hygiene education
  • Preventive healthcare

In our target communities, many parents cannot afford school materials, preventive illnesses impact school attendance, and mothers lack access to health education and economic opportunities.

Without early learning opportunities, children face developmental delays and enter primary school unprepared. Informal childcare arrangements often lack safety standards, educational materials, and developmental support. The absence of safe childcare also limits the economic participation of mothers, deepening the cycle of poverty.

Project Goals

  1. 1

Equip and operationalize one early childhood development center

  2. 2

Serve at least 60 children ages 1–10

  3. 3

Support 50 mothers through reliable childcare access

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased child safety and supervision
  • Improved early literacy and cognitive development
  • Increased economic stability for participating mothers
  • Strengthened community-based childhood protection model
